The Sport Center joined forces with the Gault Family Cos. of Westport for a fundraiser to benefit Make-A-Wish Connecticut of Trumbull.
The day was hosted by Gault, which had a truck parked in front for kids to see and touch — and even sit in.
The purpose of the event was to raise money for the next Make-A-Wish. Each wish costs about $10,000 and it takes a lot of fundraising to complete the mission.
Make-A-Wish set up a table outside the Sports Center, offering tickets for the various activities and explaining its mission.
"We are here to make a kid's wish come true," says Kim Smith, development director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Sports Center offered up its many activities — including a full range video arcade room, bowling alley, batting cage, golf course, mini-golf and more as part of the fundraiser.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, based in Trumbull, believes that a wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with life-threatening medical conditions.
"This one belief guides us in everything we do. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve," says the mission statement from Make-A-Wish.
